Here's a testament to crappyness, evil scam ar-I mean businessmen, and dodgy practices.
War Z as you know is a infamous "game" that released on steam sometime last year. I use the term "game" in the loosest sense of the world given how the game is barely even playable.
The image wasn't posted by me, but it was too humorous to pass up
The game brings "false advertising" and "scam" to a new level. The game was advertised as a survival horror MMO, but it was actually a deathmatch style free for all game [The enemies are zombies, yet you can be killed by a douchebag [human player] using a flashlight. Anytime you die, which you will do often, the game either has you wait 4 hours to respawn which would leave you to create a new character, or you can pay real money to spawn instantaneously.
The game also contains a item shop where you have to use real money to get them [which is pointless because you lose all your items anyway].
What are the features for this game? It was supposed to contain 100 players per server, but it only has 50. The game's steam page practically lies about it's features, not to mention the developers don't tell you that the game is very unfinished in it's alpha phase.
The graphics are pretty crappy, the gameplay can cure insomnia as well. Not to mention, you have the people in charge of the game randomly ban people to scare away the hackers...presumably so people won't bother hacking a game where you can get banned with no justification. There were even stories of people getting banned after playing it for a while because the developers were so sure that you would fork over your money to play more of this "game"
You couldn't complain on their forums either because they censor the forums and threaten to ban you [as the image here illustrates]. It shows how much resent they have towards their customers because in their minds, the game is so great.
Fortunately, Steam themselves knew better and not only removed the game from the Steam service, but also gave people their refunds. Keep in mind that something like this doesn't happen very often.
Atleast it makes sense to me now that one of the developers who made Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing was in charge of this game. How is he still in the business making games with Big Rigs on his resume?
Amazingly enough, the story of the lazy and sketchy development behind War Z keeps developing. I'll definately be keeping an eye on this
My husband, his best friend, and I started playing War Z before it was on Steam... It was actually a fun game, even though asshole hackers were out there, waiting to kill and loot your body. Now it's just ridiculous. They added eveb more zombies, which there were more than enough before, and made it harder to find food and water. Giant waste of money.
